Shirley Mae JOHNSON

February 21, 1928 — April 11, 2022

Shirley Mae JOHNSON, 94, of Rexville, NY, went home to Heaven peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April 11, 2022 in Wellsville Manor Care Center.

Born February 21, 1928, in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of William and Emily Palmer Taylor.  On September 23, 1950, in Cleveland, OH, she married Richard B. Johnson, who predeceased her on October 9, 2006.  Shirley attended Baptist Bible College in Ohio.  She was employed as a secretary by Dr. Spiros Zodhiates at AMG Publishing.  In Maryland, she was employed by Upper Shore Aging Offices.  Her fulltime role was that of wife, mother, and pastor’s wife.  She was a member of Bennett’s Creek Bible Church.  Shirley was best known for her wonderfully warm welcome for anyone that came through the door, her love of music, playing the organ and piano, and her beautiful singing voice.

Surviving are: three children, Deborah Ruth (Mark) Coleman of Plainville, MA, Stephen Richard (Donna) Johnson of Chestertown, MD, and Lois Ann (John) Foxwell of Rexville; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Hanna, Scott Lathers, Jeremy (Becky) Gardner, Jessica Coleman, Julia Coleman, David (Becca) Foxwell, and Karyn (Alex) Pashchuk; nine great-grandchildren, Taylor Lathers, Alexz Lathers, Teagan Lathers, Sommer Edwards, Ryan Edwards, Asher Edwards, Oliver Pashchuk, Samuel Foxwell, and Caleb Foxwell; and two nieces, Nancy (Jim) Dodds and Leslie (Steve) Brown.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Jacob Bear Johnson; and a sister, Joy Swope.

A Memorial Service will be held at Bennett's Creek Bible Church at 11 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2022.  Private burial will be in Bennett’s Creek Cemetery.
